Dear Sonia On behalf of Rotherhithe Community Safety Forum (RCSF), I thank you for your introduction email below of today and warmly welcome your request to use our photos on the website of The Association of Charitable Foundations. RCSF is a truly multi-agency partnership that was set up on 5 June 2003 to help fight crime and the fear of crime in the Rotherhithe Community Council Area, covering both Rotherhithe Ward and Surrey Docks Ward. Our collective goodwill and energy that have initially more channelled towards “Crisis Management” have gradually shifted towards “Community-Building” over the years as we built success on success in our continual efforts to help build a safer, more caring and more giving Rotherhithe Community where people will want to live, visit and work. Everything RCSF has achieved to date was done by “volunteers” that involved individual and group members from different walks of life, including Valerie Shawcross AM (London Assembly’s Member for Lambeth & Southwark and Chair of Transport Committee), Cllr. Jenny Jones AM (London Assembly’s Green Party Member), Safer Neighbourhood Police Teams, Southwark Council Councillors & Officers, Council Tenants, Private Residents, Local Businesses, Local Churches, Local Schools and other Community Groups. RCSF actively seeks to use our membership base, other network connections and communication channels to provides non-financial support for other community-building efforts in Rotherhithe or otherwise if and when it is deemed possible and desirable like our strong public support for "Save London Bubble Theatre Campaign" (Web Link for information : http://www.flickr.com/photos/16999050@N00/2233794024/). Please feel free to use any item in our two photo collection sets which can be accessed via the two web links below, at no financial costs or other obligations whatsoever, as you see fit:
RCSF Ecology & Wildlife Photo Collection : http://www.flickr.com/photos/16999050@N00/sets/72157604053249144/
RCSF Community Photo Collection : http://www.flickr.com/photos/16999050@N00/sets/72057594078772057/ These two websites allow free viewing and downloading of individual photos by clicking each photo in turn. Further information may be accessed under each photo. There is also the facility to view each photo collection as a slideshow by clicking the "Slideshow" button at the top right of the screen. Please click the 'ALL SIZES' button just above the page to enlarge the photo for easy viewing and / or downloading as required.
We would be most grateful if you will give credit to the photographer(s) and RCSF but this is by no means to be a condition for your use of our photos. If you choose to give credit to the photographer(s), please look at the description directly below the photo(s). If you cannot see any mention of photographer below a photo, it is a photo taken by me. Steve Cornish (Chair of Downtown Defence Campaign and Chair of The Friends of Russia Dock Woodland) is a key contributor to our photo collection and has a fast-growing reputation, both as a “Photographer” as well as a seasoned "Community-Builder” like his famous “Downtown Kingfisher Photos” that have recently been published in the Evening Standard and other local newspapers. RCSF has chosen to give our strongest possible support to help promote “Environment, Ecology & Conservation (EEC)”. This included our long-term support for Stave Hill Ecology Park (SHEP) and in its latest fund raising efforts to build the first-ever “London Wildlife Centre” and its competition for the prestigious “Green Pennant Award”. Top politicians like Valerie Shawcross AM and Cllr. Jenny Jones AM have already lent their strong public support to SHEP, a local charity that has achieved a great deal for many with very little funding. We would be most grateful if you will choose at least one photo of SHEP for public display on your website to add to the fast-growing support and public recognition of its success. Many thanks again for making contact and kind request to use our photos. ======================================== Dear Kam My name is Sonia Sinanan and I work for the Association of Charitable Foundations, the membership organisation for trusts and foundations in the UK. I am currently responsible for the development of the ACF website and in looking for suitable photographs for the site I came across your photos for the Rotherhithe Community Safety Forum on Flickr. They are beautiful and cover many of the aspects of the work of our members that we are trying to portray. It has been really difficult for us to find images that are suited to our work and of a suitable quality to put up on the site without using images that are from photostocks that look a little sterile. I wondered if you would consider allowing us to use some of your photos on the site – we would be very happy to credit you and the forum. Unfortunately we don’t have any funds to pay for pictures. Let me know what you think – I won’t be offended if you think it’s not a good idea – it was just a thought as the pictures are so good. Kind regards Sonia Sonia Sinanan P Consider the environment; please don't print this email unless you really need to.

Thank you for your email below. I was delighted to learn of your kind acceptance of my personal invite to join RCSF. I hope you will benefit from your association with RCSF and will contribute to our collective efforts, as and when possible, to help build a safer, more caring and more giving Rotherhithe Community where people will want to live, visit and work. Being a member of the RCSF Permanent Email Group has its advantage in that you will receive emails from me direct rather than having to hope to get the information from the RCSF Website.
I will introduce you to our fellow RCSF Members via the next issue of RCSF Circular. I propose to describe you as a resident in the Albion Street Area. Please let me have any comment that you may have, like if you are a member of or help run some Local Community Groups which you would like to be included in the description. Please also let me know if you have any special interest like environment, ecology & conservation so that I can try my best to keep you informed.

Many thanks for your e-mail and a pleasure meeting you at last, please accept my apologies for not replying sooner. Improving my local neighbourhood is very important as I have a lot of family who live in SE16, so I look forward to being able to contribute to the forum in future. I would be very happy to part of the RCSF. Unfortunately due to work and family commitments I do not have much free time, however I am able to keep in touch using E-Mail/Internet/etc. If needed, I am usually available in the evenings and weekends. ps. I already visit the Blog from time to time! Looking forward to being a part of RCSF. Charlie 2009/2/13 Kam Hong Leung wrote:

Al : Thank you very much for your prompt and helpful advice email below. I am pleased to learn that Rotherhithe Safer Neighbourhood Police Team is well aware of the community safety concerns raised by Charlie in his recent email to me and have already done a great deal before then to help improve the situation with yet more actions to follow. Thank you for the good, hard work of your team. I trust Chralie will know how to contact you and your team direct going forward should that become necessary.
Barry : Thank you very much for your prompt and helpful advice email below. I would hereby pass on your email and recommended reporting procedures to Chralie for his future reference. I did notice we seemed to have more young people, as well as older ones, fishing in Rotherhithe this summer. I wish Rotherhithe Angling Club continual success.
Charlie : I know you have seen Al's kind advice email below and will know how to contact your Rotherhithe Safer Neighbourhood Police Team going forward should that become necessary. Please also see the kind advice email below from Barry Duckett, Chair of Canada Estate Tenants & Residents Association and Rotherhithe Angling Club, ..... for your information and future reference. You may also like to note the email addresses of some of the 'Rotherhithe Comminity Safety Service Providers' and Southwark Councillors, etc. who are recipients of this email for your record and potential future use. Thank you for bringing your community safety concerns to my attention and let's hope the good, hard work already put in place by the multi-agency crime fighting partnership and further actions to follow will help bring the much desired improvement to you and your neighbours.

kam just wanted to say the man who sent the e mail to you should contact he's estates officer if he's a council tenant/resident and he or she will get in touch with the A S B O TEAM AND ALSO CONTACT THE SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAM
This is a much easier way of doing things as you know albion street is a problem and I have brought this up a few times but the problem is that jamaica road ie pynfolds and kirby are even worse so as you know the exclusion zone is there at the moment still we will not completely ever stop it we need to focus on getting the kids some where to go as there's not a lot around here for them we had a great success this summer with the kids fishing on the pontoon and we hope to do it again next year

Subject: Re: Albion Street Neighbourhood Community Safety Concerns : Charlie Ly of Renforth Street - Request for Help Thank you Kam and Al (and everyone else),
The last thing I want to do is to go straight to people of voice and seniority, so please do not think I am someone who wants to skip processes that may already be in place for council estates and surrounding areas. Please feel free to direct me to someone best placed to help.
Although I believe tackling the root cause of ASB is important, things like door entry schemes have vastly improved the lives of our neighbouring building, and we all hope something like that can happen to us too. I'm only one person but if you speak to anyone in my building they will express similar concerns. We have all witnessed terrible things that youths have done here, but like so many people are also too afraid or worried to speak about it.

Charlie : In response to your email request for information below, may I suggest that you make direct contact with Sergeant Al Irvine, Manager of Rotherhithe Ward Safer Neighbourhood Police Team to discuss your concerns with him and seek his advice and assistance. As you can see in Al's reply email to me below, Al wishes to contact you already. There was a Dispersal Zone imposed in the Albion Street Neighbourhood only two years ago, the first in Southwark. I am sure that many of us will not want a repeat of the same problem. I would also recommend you contact your local councillor, Cllr. Jeff Hook, Southwark Council's Executive Member for Community Safety to seek his advice and assistance. I wonder if you would like to become a member of Rotherhithe Community Safety Forum (RCSF) and join our Permanent Email Group to help build a safer, more caring and more giving Rotherhithe Community where people will want to live, visit and work. Do you have any experience with persuading southwark to get communal doors fitted to council flats? We have a really big problem with youths hanging around our stairs, urinating, spitting, leaving rubbish, food, etc. I've seen drugs being smoked a few times, and once I saw it being sold! This usually happens around 3 times a week on average.
If you can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
